Now in Effect: Notary Statute Changes in Kentucky

Topics: Real Estate

As of January 1, 2020, Kentucky amended KRS 423.360, altering its requirements for certification of notarial acts.  The amended statute requires that a notary public must include its commission number along with the date of expiration.

In the past, a notary public was only required to include in its certificate that he or she personally witnessed the signature, that the individual was known personally to them, identification of the jurisdiction in which the notary is licensed, and the date of expiration of its notary commission.
