WWR Associate Holly Thurman Elected to Treasurer of Allegheny County Bar Association Bankruptcy & Commercial Law Section Board of Governors

Weltman, Weinberg & Reis Co., LPA (WWR) congratulates Holly Thurman, an associate in Bankruptcy; Consumer Bankruptcy Group in WWR’s Pittsburgh office, on her election to Treasurer of the Allegheny County Bar Association (ACBA) Bankruptcy & Commercial Law Section Board of Governors. Ms. Thurman manages the Pennsylvania bankruptcy practice of WWR.

Ms. Thurman began a one-year term as Treasurer in June 2010.  As Treasurer of this Section, her primary responsibilities include developing and managing the budget for the Bankruptcy and Commercial Law Section and assisting with the planning of the ACBA CLE program held each December.

The Bankruptcy and Commercial Law Section studies the common and statutory law relating to bankruptcy and commercial law, informs ACBA members of significant developments in these fields of law, promotes educational endeavors in these fields, studies proposed legislation and advises the Board of Governors of positions that might or should be taken on such proposals, studies problem areas in these fields of law, and where possible suggests legislation to correct such problems, disseminates information of particular interest to Section members concerning any of the areas of law within the purview of this Section, and fosters the relationship between and among the local Judiciary and the members of the local bar.

Ms. Thurman received a B.A. in Psychology from Penn State University in 2001 and a J.D. from the Duquesne University School of Law in 2004.  A member of the American, Pennsylvania and Allegheny County Bar Associations, Ms. Thurman is licensed in Pennsylvania and is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court (Western, Middle and Eastern Districts of Pennsylvania).  Holly has been published in WWR’s bankruptcy newsletter, trendline and on WWR’s bankruptcy blog (wwrbankruptcy.com). 

The Allegheny County Bar Association is a professional organization with more than 6,600 member lawyers, judges, magisterial district judges, legal administrators and paralegals. Its members work to improve the profession, the communities in which they live and the administration of justice in society.
