Weltman, Weinberg & Reis Co., LPA Managing Partner Scott S. Weltman Celebrates 25 Years with the Firm

Weltman, Weinberg & Reis Co., LPA (Weltman), a full-service creditors' rights law firm now in its 87th year of client service, is celebrating Managing Partner Scott S. Weltman today for the milestone achievement of 25 years with the firm.

"It's hard to believe it has been 25 years, but I can honestly say that I have enjoyed every one of them. Our firm is filled with great, hard-working individuals, and I have always felt honored to work alongside them."

A Northeast Ohio native and 1982 graduate of Shaker Heights High School, Scott earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Finance, magna cum laude, from the University of Southern California's Marshall College of Business in 1986, followed by his Juris Doctorate from USC's Gould School of Law in 1989. While in law school, Scott was a member of the Law Review and graduated in the top 10% of his class, earning him membership in the Order of the Coif. After graduation, Scott spent two years with the law firm of Allen Matkins in Los Angeles.

In 1992, Scott returned to Ohio and joined Weltman to work alongside his father and mentor, Bob Weltman. Bob was the managing partner of the firm at the time; something of a family tradition, as Bob's father – and Scott's grandfather – Maurice Weltman, had also held the role several years prior. The firm had been established in 1930 to assist local banks and retailers recover debt. By the 1970’s, in addition to traditional legal work, it had also developed a successful in-house collections operation. Weltman continues to operate this unique business model to this day.

In the late 1990's, Scott helped to create, and would later lead as Practice Chair, the firm's Probate Recovery Group. He was made a shareholder of the firm in 1996, and was elected as Managing Partner in 2012. He took over for Alan Weinberg, who had managed the firm for nearly 20 years.

Scott has been recognized in several editions of Ohio Super Lawyers (2005, 2007, 2010-17), Ohio Rising Stars (2005), and is AV® Preeminent™ Rated by Martindale-Hubbell, its highest available rating for legal ability and professional ethics.

He currently resides in Pepper Pike with his wife, Melanie, and twin daughters, Allison and Dana. His son, Ben, is pursuing a bachelor's degree at the University of Southern California.
