Mike attributes his high success rate with his ability to think quickly on his feet – even in intense situations.
Practicing in complex civil litigation for more than 30 years, Mike represents financial institutions and secured creditors in the State, Federal, and Bankruptcy Courts. He typically assists lenders with real estate litigation, complex liability defense matters, lender liability defense, and/or the recovery of fraudulently transferred and/or hidden assets. He also represents clients in construction lien foreclosure matters. His determination and practical approach to recovery has led to a high number of judgments on highly complex cases.
Mike works primarily with in-house counsel, special asset work-out departments, real estate developers, and property managers who need assistance with poorly performing loans. They look to him for assistance with defending lending or supervision decisions, or disputes with sophisticated and sometimes dishonest borrowers.
One of Mike’s clients, a secured creditor, made a $1,000,000+ loan to a jewelry and lending enterprise, whose guarantor filed for bankruptcy. The borrower and guarantor unlawfully transferred $1,000,000 worth of collateral to a competitor – a clear violation of the loan agreement, not to mention State and Federal laws. During the First Meeting of Creditors, Mike inquired as to the whereabouts of the collateral, and the guarantor asserted his Fifth Amendment Rights against self-incrimination. Mike pushed forward with a court-appointed receiver and obtained a judgment of non-dischargeability for the amount owing under the loan by the guarantor.
Mike is a member of many professional organizations, including the American Bankruptcy Institute and the Oakland County Bar Association. Furthermore, he is Martindale-Hubbell AV® Preeminent™ Rated, its highest available rating for legal ability and professional ethics.
Mike’s ultimate favorite activity outside of work is spending time with his family. He also enjoys watching sports and playing golf with friends.
