COLUMBUS, Ohio – Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner announced Tuesday a new electronic service provided by her office that will help protect businesses from identity theft and fraud.
The Secretary of State's new Filing Notification System notifies businesses or other interested parties via email whenever there is a new filing or any changes to the company's business records at the Secretary of State’s office. The system alerts businesses that request notification to unauthorized changes to their corporate records on file with the Ohio Secretary of State.
“We're pleased to introduce this new web resource to aid businesses in doing what they do best -- create jobs for Ohioans," said Secretary Brunner.
"Many small- and medium-sized businesses buy special fraud insurance to compensate for employee and identity theft and fraud. Now they have one more tool to keep down business and legal costs," Secretary Brunner said.
To take advantage of the notification system, a representative of a business registered with the Secretary of State simply enters the business entity number and an email address where they would like notices sent. There is no limit to the number of businesses someone can receive notifications about, and the service is available to the public as well.
The Filing Notification System can be accessed via the Secretary of State’s office website, http://www.sos.state.oh.us/bsemail/default.aspx.
